D&D Lords of Waterdeep App Reviews

iOS 10 Problems

Apple removed the Game Center app in iOS 10, and backstabbed this game. Playdek never built a Game Center UI into this game(why would they have?), so it is now impossible to check achievements. Very annoying!

Awesome adaption & great game!

Ive sunk nearly 100 hours into this app and really enjoyed it. The adaption is a excellent and it makes for very fast game play. Expansion packs are also great and I highly recommend for any Waterdeep fans.

Forgotten game

Game is not updated for more than 2 years, even ipad warns you about it.

Amazing board game

Great board game, not easy, not dull, fun to play in a multiplayer mode !

Really enjoying this one

Ive played a few games against the AI and have really enjoyed it. The AI is better than expected. Buy this game.

Pricey, but Great

Always wanted to play this board game, and this app gives me the opportunity to do so without shelling out $20+. Its loads of fun, and I can see this being a great party board game. Planning on getting the real thing soon.

Needs better online multiplayer

I like the board game. This adaptation is beautiful. Now the bad news: Online multiplayer means you join a game and wait forever for the other persons move. No chat. Quick play doesnt mean youll find an actual opponent before your request expires. Closing out games that the other user created but never begins causes you to forfeit and lose rank. Wish I had noticed that there are no updated since 2014 before I bought.

Best board game on App Store

This is an awesome game & I love playing it. Definitely the best board game on the App Store.

Fun game, lots of depth, good AI

Love this game still after dozens of plays against the computer. Each game plays different. The expansions add a lot of variety. Computer AI is challenging.

Strong Recommend

Gameplay is not like DnD and there is very little-to-no role playing involved at all. This resource management German-style questing/adventure board game, set in the intrigue-bound city of Waterdeep, is really fun against AI and other players alike. There are a lot of free versions on Tabletop Simulator, and there is of course the actual physical game, but if you want to play it on the go or if - like me - you want to learn it from scratch and be prepared when this one (or another in its style) comes up on game night, you really cant ask for a better-designed mobile app. It would have been so much more difficult to learn from the rulebook alone; now, when I play the tabletop version with friends who have been playing a long time, I know subtle rules/features they dont, on account of the way the app sees to it that players stick to the rules (without infringing on creative play in any way).. Im so tired of bad barely-fun freemium mobile games; this, Lords of Waterdeep is such a breath of fresh seaside air, which youre going to appreciate as you watch from above as corruption swallows the city and its people to your benefit as a secret ruler of fighters, rogues, clerics & wizards one and all.

Great port to digital from board game !

My Favorite Game

This game quickly became my favorite. With the expansions especially, the game is quite different every time. Each player has a different hero with different bonuses. The available buildings to buy change every game as well. The quests are very balanced, and I find that most of my games with my friends are quite close. The art is beautiful and true to the original board game. My play group, which consists primarily of six regular players, always has several games going, each ranging from 3-6 players in each game. Having too many games going at once becomes confusing because its a bit hard to remember what your goals/plans are for each game; but the game is so much fun its hard not to have several games going at once! Im generally a sore loser (I must admit), but after losing a game in Waterdeep, Im always ready to get the next game started to try to redeem myself and defeat my opponents in the next one.

Completely Addictive

Love this game and have wasted hours of my life playing it. Not only will I never get those hours back, I dont want them.

Can We Get An Expansion?

I love this game. Please make another expansion!! I feel this game has been abandoned.

Fantastic game!

I love everthing about it except for the portrait only orientation. Not really easy to do with my iPad Pro in its keyboard stand. Im not saying Apple shouldnt fix that .. But while Im waiting for the coals to come to Newcastle Id like it to be easier to play with landscape. The other thing Id like a bit better is the game setup for solo play. Its only a "tad" because it all works fine, just confuses me sometimes. The game itself is a stellar performer, so it still gets 5 stars. I play this game addictively for hours, even WITH the annoying portrait only mode. Its got that "one more game" thing. Its just the right amount of difficult for me.

Sweet & sour

This app is a fantastic digital version of the board game. Its got ambiance music and sound effects. You can scrutinize your opponents quests and items without reaching over the table. You can take as long as you want to make decisions (goodbye analysis paralysis!). AND you dont have to play the calendar game with your friends to get people together to play. The only crappy difference, with the exception of a passionate table-flipping incident, is the physical board game doesnt crash. This lovely app is, with good reason, expensive. The expansions are expensive. Theres gotta be one person behind the scenes debugging! Sometimes the game will crash 3 times in a row, causing me to reboot the app, re-watch my opponents turns and repeat. Its infuriating enough to actually table-flip if that was possible. So try to imagine a little phone-flip (dont worry, I have an otterbox). As soon as the crashing problem is resolved, this game will get a full 5 stars, but for now, and the past several years Ive owned the game, I will sourly leave it with 3.

My favorite iphone/ipad game

Simply awesome boardgame and the conversion to ios doesnt disappoint. So much strategy involved in each move. Great way to introduce the game to friends. Developers: please do a TVOS version! So much depth to this game and the expansion adds even more. Never the same game twice.

Great game, slow performance

I enjoy this game tremendously. Unfortunately it has not been updated recently and is slowing down on the most recent event version of iOS. Please speed it up my friends!

Simply awesome.

D&D euro style. Simple mechanics and addictive gameplay. A must have for any D&D goer. Highly recommend. A light learning curve but easy to comprehend.

Confusing

I found it confusing. I think a better tutorial and a more accessible rule section wouldve helped.
