D&D Lords of Waterdeep App Reviews

First off, this is a great single player app, with solid AI opponents for offline play. BUT you cant have that same great AI in online games! I dont get it. Im a game developer and I know how long it takes to make good AI. Playdek did exactly that... and then decided to disallow it in multiplayer games. Bad decision, and the only thing holding back this otherwise great app from a 5 star rating. If Playdek is worried about AI screwing up online rankings etc. then just dont count games with AI toward those rankings. Simple. Come on Playdek, do the right thing and fix this with an update.

Seriously disappointed. This is a silly card game. Nothing to do with D&D.

Ive been notified from my work place that there is malware detected through this app. Please fix asap.

I play this game literally daily and I love it. However, I recently updated to iOS 10 and Im getting warnings about this app slowing down my iPad. Can we get a quick recompile for iOS 10 please? (I know its not quite that easy but an update newer than 2014 would be nice).

Really fun game, that requires you to think. Its not a RPG despite the DnD label, but its quite original and engaging. The art is great, the gameplay strikes a good balance between being difficult enough to keep you on your toes and not too hard that you cannot win (in offline mode). The tutorial is well done. In offline mode, most games last 40 min or so, which is the right amount of time. The add-ons are quite good too.

First off, I love this game. I just lost a game to several hard ai opponents because the game didnt realize I had an influence card in my hand, so I couldnt place an agent on my last turn. The ai has problems with the expansions. "Inevitable Betrayal" is basically the only thing they play , and is in fact the cause of my game losing bug. The AI makes poor placement decisions, and will give the player in first place extra tokens or money against all reason. With all of that said, I think its a great game and totally worth the price

Love the game. Great interface. Two complaints though. No chat feature. And your play counter starts counting down before your turn even starts. Is not accurate at all.

I had hoped that this game would at least involve rolling dice and fighting monsters. It does not. You play one of the nominal Lords of Waterdeep, which is much less interesting than it sounds, because you can do nothing with them and all you get is a picture. Your job is to collect adventurers and do one of 60 or so different quests within eight rounds, while you compete against either the AI or another player. It is a simple turn-based game where you collect one or two fighters or wizards from the tavern each round and then eventually assign them to a quest when you get enough. Once you have the requirements to do the quest, it is an automatic completion. No hacking and slashing at all. At the end, your points are totaled against the other players to see who wins. There is not much drama. The quests dont have much of a description. They are one-liners. Theres no story here, no character development, ...nothing. In short, save your time if youre looking for something with exciting characters. This is all turn-based strategy and luck of the draw. The price of this game is higher than its value.

This game is very good! The port is very well done! I wish there was an option to ask for confirmation for everything that happens, because most of the time I cant follow what the AI is doing...

It is a great game. Im looking foward to buy its expansions because it is really well made and it is worth buying. No problems with it found yet. Working well on Iphone 4S.

Both online and offline play are incredible. The game is super polished and leaves nothing more to be asked of it!

Wont even launch on iPhone 4S running 7.0.3 Edit: seems to be a memory issue. Will run after killing all other apps.

So I just spent 9 bucks on a game that wont even open after a few dozen times. With airplane mode on and all other apps off. Is this some kind of a joke?

Unplayable on 4s. Dont buy
